How to buy Radiant Heating Tubing (Pex or Pex Al Pex)

A.I.M. sells two types of Radiant Floor Tubing. Both types are cross-linked Pex with oxygen diffusion barrier. Why should you have this oxygen diffusion barrier? The oxygen diffusion barrier prevents oxygen to permeate in to the tubing system. Oxygen within the water is what begins to rust all the major metal components of your system including the boiler, circulators and valves. Using a tubing system that has an oxygen diffusion barrier will enhance the life of your components.

Standard Pex Tubing is used in Concrete slab installations maximum loop length is important for allowing correct heating through out the floor.

All prices are per ft. and sold in full coil lengths only, typical coil lengths are between 300 and 600 feet.

For concrete installation
3/8" Standard Pex Tubing 300 and 600’ length @ $ 0.46 per foot
1/2" Standard Pex Tubing 300 and 600’ length @ $ 0.42 per foot
5/8" Standard Pex Tubing 600’ length @ $ 0.89 per foot
3/4" Standard Pex Tubing 500’ length @ $ 1.03 per foot
1" Standard Pex Tubing 100 and 500’ length @ $1.33 per foot

For soil and gravel installation
1/2" Pex Al Pex Tubing 600’ length @ $ 0.66 per foot
5/8" Pex Al Pex Tubing 500’ length @ $ 0.89 per foot

Pex AL Pex Tubing is the premier of Radiant heating Tubing, the difference is the aluminum that is wrapped around the standard Pex while being extruded and welded the whole length, and then another layer of Pex is added to protect the Aluminum from abrasions. The aluminum reflects the water temperature faster to the soil around it. This is a very important factor with soil heating but not as important with concrete installations. We recommend using Pex within the floor of your greenhouse and Pex Al Pex for bench heating should you choose not to use the radiant mat system.

Estimating Greenhouse Material For Radiant Heating

Example:
Greenhouse dimension 30’ X 100’ = 3000 sq.ft. 3000‘ X 1.5 = 4500‘ Tubing installed on 9" spacing.

4500 ft." Standard Radiant Tubing installed in Concrete with insulation underneath will produce 30 Btu/h per ft. of Tubing, 4500 X 30 = 135,000 Btu/h
